After You've Registered for a Workshop...Get All the Details

HEY! HEY! HEY! Are you ready to paint?

I'm so excited that you will be joining me a Sawdust & Swirls DIY Wood Sign Painting Workshop. We're going to have a great time, I promise!
Here are a few details that will help prepare you for the class.
.........................
What you need to know before you arrive...
  • We will be working with stain and paint. I have aprons for you to wear, but you probably don't want to wear your "fancy" cloths. This is a casual event, so come dressed comfortably.
.........................
What you need to bring...
  • Your creativity and a smile! While no painting experience is required for this workshop, you will be choosing your own colors and can make the sign your own. You may be painting the same design as someone else...but no two finished products will look the same. Get those creative juices flowing even before you get here by thinking about what colors of paint and/or stain you might want to use on your sign. I have many color options for you to choose from, so the skies the limit on what you can create!
.........................
When you arrive...
  • The first thing you'll be asked to do when you arrive is sign a waiver/photo release form.
  • After that is taken care of you'll grab an apron and "glove up"! You'll choose your board from the available pieces. Keep in mind that we are working with wood and some pieces have more character than others in the form of knots, grain, and blemishes. This is what makes your creation unique!
  • Then you'll choose a base color of paint or stain for your wood and get started. While the base color is drying we will have time to chat and have some snacks. Once the basecoat is dry you'll apply the stencil and be on your way to creating your one-of-a-kind project!
  • After you get 2-3 light coats of paint over the stencil, you'll pull the stencil off and do any touch-up that may be needed. When you're happy with your piece, and it's dry to touch, you'll be finished and ready to take your new sign home.
.........................
How long will the workshop last...
  • Workshops usually last between 2 1/2-3 hours. The amount of time it takes to finish your piece will depend on how quickly you work, and how quickly your paint dries. :) We will be doing light coats, so that will help. I also have hair dryers and fans to help speed things up if needed.
.........................
Workshop location...
  • Many workshops will be held at my house. However, I am also able to do workshops at a location of your choice if you would like to get a group of friends together and paint. I will send you an email the week of the workshop with my address and last minute details.
